Kitsap Cancer Services, KCS, was founded by Jackie and Mark Smaha, in 2004. The journey of KCS is a personal one to the founders, those who volunteer, and the community we serve. Jackie who is also our Executive Director, is a cancer survivor (Learn more about Jackie on her bio), as well as several of our board members who have a personal understanding of the impact cancer can have not only on the individual diagnosed but the family and loved ones around them. After 2004, as KCS grew and fundraising grew, so did our programs, continuing to meet more of our community needs by helping individuals financially and emotionally through their cancer journey. KCS is not an exclusive organization. We help men, women, and families of children and do not limit our resources to any one type of cancer, working closely with local oncology social workers in Kitsap County, Seattle, Tacoma and Gig Harbor, to help with financial and personal needs of individuals and families.
